Title: Lucas – A Preston Brothers Novel
Author: Jay McLean
Release Day: November 1, 2016

In a sprint, every millisecond counts.
When you’re waiting for love, those milliseconds can feel like eons.

High school senior Lucas Preston has it all: star of the track team, a scholarship waiting for him, an apartment to himself and a revolving door of girlfriends. He also has an older sister, five younger brothers and a father who relies on him to make sure those brothers don’t kill each other.
His saving grace? Lois “Laney” Sanders, a girl he started to fall in like with when he was just eleven.
A girl who became his best friend, his confidant, his courage.

It took only sixteen clicks and eight seconds for Lucas to realize that his like for Laney had turned into love.
Eight life-changing seconds.
It’s also the exact length of time it took to lose her.

“Love hard, love fierce, but love right”

Every time I pick up a Jay McLean book, I’m never left disappointed. From the very first page the story of Lucy’s brother and the oldest Preston boy Lucas and Lois “Lane” Sanders took hold and didn’t let me go until the last page. Every time I had to stop reading, I was counting the seconds and minutes until I could start reading again.

When a young Lucas meets Lois, every changed. A beautiful childhood friendship and bond is formed which gets stronger and deeper as they get older, even though its not always easy at times. The story captures the essence of how you feel when you meet your first love, true love, and forever love. I adored the friendship the connection and banter Lucas and Lois shared; it was adorable and passionate and heartwarming.

“She meant a lot to me….in fact, she meant the world”

Lucas had it all fate, first love, first kisses, forever love, strong family bond, friendship, jealousy, trust, humor, selflessness, heartache and swoon worthy moments. I adore Jay’s writing style, and her words are a thing of beauty, and they never fail to take me on an emotional roller-coaster. The way she makes you fall in love with the characters and makes you want to care about them. Whatever they were feeling I was feeling it right with them. It was simple their lives mattered to me.

“I think, ultimately, that’s what true love is, you know? To want to be someone’s hero when they’re faced with villains. To want to be to be the one that saves them. To be their Wonderwall.”

If you have read Jay’s More Than series, then you are going to love The Preston Brothers Series. It wasn’t hard to fall in love with the Preston gang, they are such an endearing bunch I love their personalities and quirks. I’m looking forward to reading more about the other Preston brothers.
