The New York Times bestselling author of On Dublin Street is back with the first in a sexy new romance series set in a small town on the Delaware coastline.
Welcome to Hartwell, a quiet seaside escape where uncovering old secrets could lead one woman to discover the meaning of a love that lasts…
While Doctor Jessica Huntington engages with the inmates at the women’s correctional facility where she works, she’s always careful to avoid emotional attachments in her personal life. Loss and betrayal taught her that lesson long ago. But when she comes across a set of old love letters in the prison’s library and visits the picturesque town of Hartwell to deliver them to their intended recipient, she finds herself unable to resist the town’s charm – and her attraction to the sexy owner of a local bar proves equally hard to deny.
Since his divorce from his unfaithful ex-wife, Cooper Lawson has focused on what really matters: his family and the boardwalk pub they’ve owned for generations. But the first time Jessica steps into his bar, Cooper is beyond tempted to risk his heart on her.
Yet as their attraction grows hotter and Jessica remains stubbornly closed off, he begins to realize it will take more than just passion to convince her there’s only one real thing in life worth fighting for. . .
***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
The One Real Thing is the first book in Samantha Young’s new series Hart’s Boardwalk. It’s been a while since I picked up a Samantha Young book and my love for small town romance stories meant I was looking forward to reading this one.
The discovery of a set of love letter brings Jessica Huntington to the quite picturesque seaside town of Hartwell. Her plan was to just deliver the letters to the intended recipient, how it doesn’t take long before she realizes that there is something special about Hartwell and some of it resident especially sexy bar owner Cooper Lawson.
“It was difficult to concentrate on anything but the attraction I’d felt to Cooper Lawson”
I liked Cooper straight away and the way he was with Jessica, he knew secrets from her past were holding her back, but he wouldn’t give up on her. I loved the attraction and chemistry that he and Jessica shared sweet, hot and passionate.
“He knew something special when he saw it”
“You’re inside me. Always will be”
There were many memorable secondary characters, and it’s one of the reasons why I’m looking forward to the next book in the series Every Little Thing I’m excited about Bailey’s story as I knew a particular man could be perfect for her. I’m not sure if Samantha is planning to write Emery’s story, but I do hope so as I would love to read more about the very shy coffee shop/bookstore owner and I have an idea of who could be a possible match for her.
The One Real Thing was an enjoyable read and had some endearing characters. I adored the friendliness, the understanding, the closeness and community Sprit between most of the residents of Hartwell that is Samantha has woven throughout the story. Samantha has made me want to pack my bags and move to Hartwell.
“I was way past falling. I’d fallen. Hard”
