There’s nothing like the first time.
In Carnal, Colorado, Faye Goodknight is the town’s quiet, shy librarian. She may also be Carnal’s last remaining virgin. For years, Faye has had a crush on Chace Keaton, but the gorgeous cop has always been unattainable. She’s resigned to live contentedly with only her books for company – until Faye suddenly meets Chace alone in the woods.
Chace doesn’t think he’s the good guy everyone believes him to be. He’s made a lot of choices he regrets, including denying his feelings for Faye. Through his choices, he’s come to believe the pretty librarian is too good for him, but after their time in the woods, Chace realizes that she may be his last chance for redemption. Soon, their long-simmering desires grow to a burning passion. Yet always casting a shadow over their happiness is Chace’s dark past.

Breathe is book four in Kristen Ashley’s Colorado Mountain series and it was a great book. Faye Goodknight Carnal’s shy quiet librarian has been in love with Chace Keaton forever and I mean forever. Faye would like nothing more than to spend her days and especially nights with the gorgeous Detective. However, it’s seemed like this idea was something that would always be a fantasy until one night when fate had other ideas.
“When I was sixteen, I saw you and when I did, I was young, romantic, and it might sound stupid but the minute I saw you, I knew I wanted to give that to you. I knew it was only you. I waited thirteen years, honey. It was worth the wait.”
Breathe was a book about Love, family, trust, redemption. It was sweet, sexy, heartwarming, heartbreaking, funny and endearing with mystery, suspense and action, just what I want and adore when listening to KA book. I instantly fell in love with the characters. Faye is sweet, funny and innocent who had a heart of gold. Chace was a good guy a protector, he too had a good heart, but due to events of the past and recent he had a hard time believing it. But Faye was just the person to help him see what others see.
“You’re a fucking miracle,” he whispered against my skin and I closed my eyes. I loved that he thought that about me.
“I’m a woman,” I whispered back.
“You’re an angel.”
One aspect of the storyline pulled on my heartstrings and when all was revealed I had to hit pause and take a moment as my emotions were all over the place. I loved the romance it hot as always, and there was something special about Faye and Chace. It wasn’t the easiest of roads for them they had to jump a few hurdles, some higher than others, but you know from the start they are going to be for each other.
“It was wild. Abandoned. Rough. Wet. Intense. Fiery. Thorough. Exquisite. Heart-pounding. Blood-singing. Soul-rocking. Life-altering. Luscious.”
Breathe was narrated again by Emma Taylor, who did a great job. I’m used to her voice now and it’s like listening to a friend telling me a story. I did giggle when she did her English accent again, it wasn’t Nina Maxwell but it sounded just like Nina even though it was meant to be a bloke.
Overall, I love listening to Breathe and Chace Keaton is most certainly swoon worthy, but I will be honest my heart belongs to TY Walker. Now the next book in the series is Jagged however, I discovered when looking at the reading ordered on KA’s website that I have to jump ship as they say for one book and read “For You” the first book of her Burg Series. KA assures me that it will make sense and of course, I completely believe her and what makes it even more perfect is that I have the whole series downloaded on audio already.
I love getting my KA fix.
Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).
Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.
Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.
And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
