The Gamble is the first book in KA Colorado mountain series and after finishing it, I know I’m going to adore this series. The storyline was well written and pure KA magic with it humor, drama, angst, romance, hotness and oh my! It was certainly hot at times. I got lost in the story as I fell in love with Max & Nina they had such great personalities and were a perfect match.

“In my life, I’ve learned when to let shit go and when to fight. This, babe, what we got, I’ll fight for.”

Nina made me laugh many times with the things she said and did. Max with his mountain ways was just the man to show Nina that she could let her hair down, and have some fun. Bring out the real Nina that side of her she was itching to get out.

When I heard the narrator Emma Taylor doing Nina’s voice I was taken by surprise, as I just didn’t expect it to sound so English. Even with what I knew about her and her past I just wasn’t expecting such “posh” English voice. At first, I felt it was a little over the top! But I must admit it took me a few chapters, but I did get use to Emma’s voice and now couldn’t imagine Nina sounding any other way.

KA’s characters are always lovable, unique, special and I have a feeling that after meeting Max the Colorado mountain series is another one that I am completely going to get wrapped up in and become addicted to. Can’t wait to listen to the Sweet Dreams and meet my next Colorado Mountain Man.unspecified

2958084Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
